First Batch of Cassettes!

Wow, I can't believe that after 7 years of digital distribution, (with the exception of Iwithsiae Noise Compilation Vol 1. and a very limited edition cdr version of analuseos-kronios) that this day has arrived.

The first batch of cassettes are in! Many hours went into their creation and they are something we are proud of. We are still working out details of the distro, and we will have the tapes available on the site shortly under the store section. Tapes will also be available at shows and will be pay-what-you-can/suggested donation.

We are pleased to announce that our first run of cassette releases will be available sometime in January. The following will be available in very limited quantities:

We decided to bring back some albums from our beginning years as well as some new ones. These cassettes will be available through our website and on the tentative Quidditas/Faithful Mates/They Say We're Sinking winter tour. For the time being we are holding off on cdr releases.

Iwithsiae has traditionally been a digital label/noise collective, but we are proud to announce that we will be putting out small runs of cassettes and CDRs in the coming weeks. We hope to partner with small distros and labels to get some of our stuff out there in a different way than we are used to.

Quidditas- Whāngai Hau (2012)

Whāngai Hau is the second album in a two part series that revolves around the Maori concept of reciprocity and the ceremony of giving (Whāngai Hau). This second album is light in tone and is is antithetical to Whakaī, the first album in the series. 

In Maori culture, all possessions have a spiritual power (hau). Although hau is the literal word for wind, there is a deep spiritual component to the term. 

Whangai Hau is a traditional Maori ceremony where gifts are shared.The Maori view the exchange of materials and services as a balanced system. This balance is known as hau ngaaherehere (wind of the forest). Reciprocity is the guiding force between exchange, leaving a lack of social hierarchy and inequality. The hau (spiritual component) of a gift charges the receiver to return the favor, not necessarily to the giver, but to someone within the community in order to maintain balance.
